Maharishi Ved Vyas – In ancient times there was a king name Sadhana. He went to the forest for hunting one day. It was only after he left that his wife became menstruating. He sent this news to the king through his bird of prey. After receiving the news, Maharaj Sudhanwa gave his semen containing two seeds. The bird flew into the sky to bring the two to the king’s wife. But on the way, that predatory bird was attacked by another predatory bird. There was a war between the two birds. During the war, he got rid of both bird’s claws and fell into the Yamuna.

Birth of  Ved Vyas ji or mother of Shri Krishna Dwapayan Vyas Ji.

In the Yamuna, a nymph made of fish lived by the curse of Brahma. A nymph-like fish swallowed the semen containing the semen and due to its effect, she became pregnant. A Nishad trapped the fish in her net when the pregnancy was complete. When Nishad made an incision in the belly of the fish, a boy and a girl came out of his stomach. That Nishad took those babies to Maharaj Sudhanwa. Due to not being the son of Maharaj Sudhanwa, he kept the child with him. The girl, whose name was ‘Matsyaraj’, remained with Nishad and the smell of fish emit from her organs. Hence it was the name ‘Matsyagandha’.

The girl was also known as ‘Satyavati’. When she grew up, she started working as a boat (matsyagandha) boat. Once, Parashar Muni had to sit on his boat and cross the Yamuna. Parashar Muni became enamored by the beauty of Satyavati. And said – “Devi! We are willing to cohabit with you.” Satyavati said- “Munivar! You are a cosmologist and I am a Nishad girl. Our cohabitation is not possible.”

Then Parashar Muni said- “Don’t worry. You will remain a virgin even after having maternity.” Having said this, he created a thick mist network around his yoga force. And enjoyed with Satyavati. After that, while blessing him, he said, “The smell of fish coming out of your body will be transformed into fragrance.”

In due course of time, there was a son in the Vedas and Vedangs from the womb of Satyavati. Which was known as Krishna Dvaipayana Vyasa or Ved Vyasa? Since birth, that child grew up and said to his mother – “Mother! Whenever you will remember me in adversity, I will be present.” Having said this, he went to the island of Dwaipayan to do penance. Due to doing penance in Dwaipayan island and his body color being black, he came to be called “Krishna Dwaipayan”. Later on, he became famous by the name of Ved Vyas due to commenting on the Vedas.
